JOURNEY knit along || Turkish Cast-On Tutorial

Yesterday was the official start date for our JOURNEY knit along! I'm so excited to follow along and watch everyone's WIPs progress.

Today Shannon and I have technical posts for you all. Shannon has put together an incredibly useful buttonhole round up and I've made a video tutorial for the Turkish Cast-On method used in my CLIMB sock pattern. If you own the book or pattern you already know that the instructions include a detailed photo tutorial but sometimes, when learning a new technique, it's nice to have someone to follow along with...

HAPPY KNITTING!

  1. Execellent tutorial. Very clear instructions and well filmed. You have pleasant voice, speak clearly and avoid the distractive chatter that some other tutorialists indulge in. Thanks.

    1. Haha well thank you! I don't multitask very well and literally can't chatter on while I'm trying to do something else -- I'm glad my little quirk is seen as a positive :)

  2. I'm so glad you posted this! I'm going to start knitting Climb as part of the KAL and have never done a turkish cast on.

  5. This is fantastic. I was going to have to google how to do this for Climb since it's next in queue to be cast on, so it was great to get such a clear tutorial from you! Thanks!

  6. Thank you for doing this tutorial. Will you be doing one for adding the sleeves? I would love to see how you do that.

  7. Awesome! Although I'm not participating in the KAL because it coincides with Ravellenics, my husband and I are planning to have our own mini-KAL where we both make these socks. He's never done a Turkish cast-on so this will be really helpful.

    1. Oh great Andrea! I'm so glad you found it useful! When I first learned the Turkish Cast-On I did it over and over again until I got a perfect toe, it's so nice to have the most difficult part of the pattern right at the beginning, ripping out and re-doing is painless and once you get it right it's out of the way and smooth sailing the rest of the way!
