I love wearing my knitwear samples, sometimes I feel guilty about it -- it's best to tuck them away so they can be used for display instead of getting worn and weathered. Rather than rough up our JOURNEY samples Shannon and I set to work making our own sweaters. I designed INLAND to live in, and since finishing mine I've done just that -- I wear it like a house coat when I'm working. It's also the perfect length to keep me warm under my favorite MEC raincoat -- if you live on the West Coast you know all too well that winter coats are only good on non-rainy days and if you're to survive here, warm + waterproof is essential!

I knit size 34 in Patons Classic Wool Roving. I didn't make any modifications and I adore my cardi -- the roving is a little less hard wearing than the Puffin used for the book sample but it's buttery soft and for that I can handle a little pilling.

So many gorgeous projects are cropping up in our JOURNEY knit along, it has been so fun to follow everyone's progress! I hope you've been having fun with us!

  3. Wow that is amazing. I could imagine wearing that everyday! Now I think I need to pick up the book. I think once you buy more then two patterns it may be worth having the book

    1. Thanks Kate!! I'm so glad you like it, it's crazy cozy!! If you like even just two patterns from the book it's so worth having the whole thing -- the book is so much more than just the patterns, it's an experience, a journey ;)

  4. I love it!! Particularly the collar - I think that's my favourite part of Sedum :) I think it's such a testament to how amazing your patterns are that even you can't help but want to wear them all the time!! ^__^ (I just finished my Sedum and wear it CONSTANTLY!!! LOL) I'm totally buying the new book as soon as I finish knitting my way through Island!! (almost halfway through - just learning short rows RIGHT NOW so I can do Arbutus!)

    1. I am a sucker for big floppy collars! I think that's my favorite thing about Sedum too! Good luck with the short rows! Arbutus is a great intro to doing them, my best advice -- stay on track, find some time when you have peace and quiet so you can work through an entire tier without interruption. You don't want to lose your place on this one.

  5. I love this sweater, it is beautiful. What would you think making it in Drops Cloud yarn? Give me your thoughts.

    1. The Cloud might be a bit too bulky -- the Puffin is a bulky weight and the Drops Cloud is a super bulky weight. It looks like a gorgeous yarn though!

    2. its actually not as bulky as the puffin.. i'm affraid it won't have enough body and be too flimsy.. do i continue or not?

    3. Are you sure it's the Drops Cloud that you are using? The only yarn that came up in a Ravelry search was this yarn, listed as super bulky (10sts/4in): http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/garnstudio-drops-cloud
