Off the Needles || Garter Gaiter in Erika Knight Maxi

I haven't done an off the needles post in ages! I've actually been doing a fair bit of knitting so I really should get caught up and photograph everything so at least I can create project pages on Ravelry and maybe share a few with you here :) I think that's what happens around the holidays, there's always one more person that you want to knit for on your list (even if that person happens to be yourself... or is that just me?).

I don't knit gifts for the holidays often, it's no secret that I am a strong advocate of selfish knitting ;) And I only gift knit if a loved one has specifically requested something (or hinted at it). This year I had two people on my list to knit for--I wanted to surprise Shannon with a pair of French Press Felted Slippers which she's been wanting forever but never had time to cast on for.

Also, my mother really loved the Swift hat from JOURNEY (and I always steal her Pasha hat for shows--so she needed another knit hat to fill in when Pasha is away). I was off to a running start on the hat and figured I would get a good chunk of it done waiting in line ups during my last minute Christmas shopping. Wouldn't you know, even though I left most of my shopping to the very last minute, none of the shops were chaotic, the rare time I did end up in a line it moved faster than it took to get my knitting out. In the end I did not make my deadline and wrapped her pressie on the needles, with the promise I would finish it swiftly, lol. My Mom is a knitter and opening a work-in-progress didn't phase her much :)

In addition I've done quite a bit of knitting for me and Else--now to get around to blogging about it! All in good time I guess, I'm still catching up from winter break and how it slashed my work schedule.

I do however have one finished object to show you! Two nights ago I cast on the Garter Gaiter with two gorgeous skeins of Erika Knight Maxi Wool in Storm and Flax. It knit up incredibly quickly and I LOVE the finished product! It's super squishy and cozy and I loved working with the yarn--the plies are gently spun together which I loved because I don't always want such a tight twist and the result is a soft yet sturdy fabric, LOVE. And I love the pairing of these two neutral colourways, this is such a wearable piece, I know it will get a ton of use.

And the best part? I just happen to have a gorgeous skein of Erika Knight Vintage Wool in the Dark colourway to give away!! All you have to do is leave a comment below along with a way to contact you (email, Ravelry name, twitter handle, etc... whatever you prefer). The winner will be chosen Monday, January 20th.

Good Luck and Happy Tuesday!!!

*** This giveaway is now closed, thank you so much to all that entered and congratulations to Anne (aka sandinmysocks) for winning this gorgeous skein of Vintage Wool!!! ***
