McMilne Shawl || Knit City 2013

McMilne Shawl by Jane Richmond

Now that Knit City has come and gone I can finally share with you the secret design I was working on for the show. Fiona and Amanda had asked me if I would create a pattern to pair with one of the custom Knit City colourways. My idea was to use a bias mesh stitch to create a very simple open work shawl that used up every last inch of two skeins of yarn.

The result is a scalene triangle where each side is of a different length. I like to wear this shawl kerchief style but it's equally as lovely draped over your shoulders. I also think it would be fun to add a button to open up more possibilities.

I decided to name the shawl after Knit City's founders, the lovely ladies of Knit Social - Fiona McLean and Amanda Milne.

The pattern is a super fast knit and really easy to memorize - perfect take along knitting! The yarn is Indigodragonfly's Superwash Worsted and this exclusive Knit City colourway is called My Other Orca is an Otter!

This pattern is now available on...

    1. Oh awesome! Isn't the colourway stunning! I had so many non-knitters comment on it as I was knitting in public!

  2. So pretty! Was volunteering all weekend, and someone came in wearing this and it was love at first sight! I asked, and she said was a test knit, and then I literally ran to the knit city booth to buy the pattern, haha.

  4. I love the photos in the paper book, but only carry around my iPad when I knit, so the ebook is much appreciated!
